Amelia Earhart broke (and, or, set) dozens of records. Some of these records were height and speed records. On the 22nd of October, 1922 Amelia Earhart set the women's altitude record of 14,000 feet. On the 25th of June, 1930 Amelia set the women’s speed record for 100 kilometres with no load and she set the women’s record for 100 kilometres with a load of 500 kilograms. On the 5th of July, 1930 Amelia set the speed record of 181.18mph over a 3 kilometre course. On the 8th of April, 1931 Amelia set the woman’s autogiro altitude record ascending to 18,415 feet. these are just some of her countless records.

Not only was Amelia world renowned for her height and speed records, her flying achievements sling-shot her high into aviation history. On the 17th and 18th of June, 1928 Amelia became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. This legendary flight lasted 20 hours and 40 minutes. In the fall of 1929 Amelia was elected as an official for the National Aeronautic Association and encouraged the Federation Aeronautique Internationale to establish separate world altitude, speed and endurance records for women.On the 20th and the 21st of May, 1932 Amelia became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic this flight lasted 14 hours 56 minutes. The flight took place on the 5th anniversary of Lindberg's Atlantic flight.  Amelia was awarded the National Geographic Society's gold medal from President Herbert Hoover and the Congress awarded her the Distinguished Flying Cross. On the 24th and the 25th of August, 1932 Amelia became the first woman to fly solo nonstop coast to coast. She set the women's nonstop transcontinental speed record, flying 2,447.8 miles in 19hrs 5min.

In the fall of 1932 Amelia was elected president of the Ninety Nines, a new women's aviation club. On the 7th and the 8th of July, 1933 Amelia broke her previous transcontinental speed record by making the same flight in 17hrs 7min. On the 11th of January, 1935 Amelia became the first person to solo the 2,408-mile distance across the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and Oakland, California. This flight was also the first flight where a civilian aircraft carried a two-way radio. She took off from Oahu's Wheeler Field and landed at Oakland, with thousands of cheering fans to welcome her. This flight lasted 18 hours. On the 8th of May, 1935 Amelia became the first person to fly solo nonstop from Mexico City to Newark. This flight lasted 14hours and 19minutes.
